COVERING MATERNITY LEAVE
SITUATION

An asset manager had a key member of its Compliance team leaving for nine months on maternity leave. This member of staff was effectively deputy to the Head of Compliance and her absence effectively left a gaping hole in the day to day operations of the team.

ACTION

We provided a suitably experienced consultant who was embedded into the Compliance team at the firm. Following a handover period, the consultant ‘joined’ the team as a compliance officer and supported the Head of Compliance on all compliance matters. The firm had the added benefit of drawing on the expertise of the wider Compliancy Services team as the consultant drew on the broader experience of the team to answer technical questionsat no extra cost to the firm.

OUTCOME

The firm’s compliance activities were able to carry on with minimal disruption. This was at a fraction of the cost that would have been incurred had the firm recruited an interim replacement.

COST EFFECTIVE COMPLIANCE RESOURCE
SITUATION

The principals of a small discretionary manager had limited time to devote to the compliance function, and did not have the revenue or requirements to justify a full-time employed resource.

ACTION

We were able to provide a senior consultant to 'hold the pen' on day to day compliance functions and to ensure that the firm discharged there regulatory compliance obligations, including periodic compliance reporting to the board to evidence effective oversight by the firm's directors.

OUTCOME

The Firm’s Directors are able to focus on the commercial and operational priorities while ensuring that the compliance function is being effectively managed.

PROVIDING A PART-TIME MLRO
SITUATION

A small EEA branch required a part-time Money Laundering Responsibility Officer to ensure they met their UK regulatory obligations.

ACTION

We seconded a consultant to work with the firm on a part-time basis. The consultant worked with the firm's Head Office and Head of Risk to ensure group policies incorporated UK requirements and the Branch was in compliance with UK requirements.

OUTCOME

The firm benefited from a skilled resource and a compliant suite of documents, with Head Office staff being trained on UK requirements
